This product is 8 feet in length and will incur an oversize handling fee to ship via UPS or FedEx.  We are unable to cut these down at our warehouse before shipping. We have 5' long bars that will normally ship more economically. 

Installation:

Round bars are installed by drilling the appropriate size hole in the wood newel post. Stainless round bars will need a 5/8" diameter hole. Powder-coated bars will need a slightly larger hole 21/32" or 11/16" diameter hole due to the thickness of the powder-coating. It is recommended that you drill test holes to check the fit of the round bars before drilling the actual newel posts.

Can iron Balustrades be horizontal?

Balustrades are available in wood, metal, and cables. However, they can only be vertical or horizontal. Horizontal round bars are common in many homes, mainly due to its safety. The round bars are placed between the Newel Posts in the same way a staircase goes on a set of stairs.

What is the spacing for horizontal stair railings?

The IRC requires that the space between your balusters or boards must be less than 4″. To be on the safe side, I recommend using 3.5″ for your spacing.
